Following the enthusiastic response at our Festival Walk boutique last year, Global Timepieces once again partnered with the pioneering Swiss watchmaker ZENITH this March. The second edition of our exclusive Watch Clinic and timepiece appreciation event was held at our Cityplaza boutique, inviting guests to discover the authentic technical essence of mechanical horology.
Brand Heritage: ZENITH’s Eternal Pursuit of Precision
Founded in 1865 in Le Locle, Switzerland, ZENITH revolutionized the industry when its founder established the first integrated Manufacture, laying the foundation for modern haute horlogerie. The brand’s most iconic milestone is undoubtedly the El Primero automatic chronograph movement, unveiled in 1969. Beating at a high frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour (5Hz), its exceptional precision and reliability have remained an industry benchmark for over half a century. Today, ZENITH continues to honor tradition while pushing technical boundaries through its Chronomaster and Defy collections.
Hands-on Craftsmanship: Deconstructing the Secrets of Chronometry
Guided by experienced local watchmakers, guests engaged in two professional hands-on sessions that exemplified the rigorous spirit of watchmaking:
- Deconstruction of the Legendary Movement: Guests were invited to personally disassemble the clutch components of the El Primero chronograph movement. Observing the precise engagement of high-frequency components under a loupe provided a profound understanding of mechanical logic.
- Luminous Coating Application: The workshop also featured a delicate session on applying luminous coating to watch hands. The precision required to apply material onto such minute surfaces reflected the stability and patience inherent in professional watchmaking—a true pursuit of functional aesthetics.
Timepiece Appreciation and Interactive Experience
Beyond the technical workshops, an curated selection of ZENITH’s core collections and latest novelties was showcased on-site.
